The Rams Varsity Softball Team battled hard against the Patriots on Wednesday, March 22, at their season opener at home. The Rams played a good game, but the final score was 3-0, in favor of Wooton. The three runs were scored in the fourth, on 3 good hits and one error. Outside of that inning, the Rams outdid the Patriots on the basepaths, piling on 9 baserunners, to Wooton's 6.

Some highlights from the game were...

OFFENSE:

*Christine DiFonzo--1 for 2 (.500)... Got to 2nd & 3rd on wild pitch.

*Liz Hubbard--1 for 3 (.333)--beat out a routine grounder!... Got to 2nd on a wild pitch... Also reached first & advanced to 2nd on error--pitcher's overthrow.

*M. Anderson--- reached on error... stole 2nd base.

*Recognizably strong hitting by... Kelsie Hegarty and Kelly Mc Tighe

DEFENSE:

*Christine DiFonzo-- Outfield assist from right field to Megan Andersen at second base for the tag out

*E. Barret--Catch on the fly,on the run in center field, saving 2 runs

*M. Anderson--Catch on the run in 5th at short stop

*M. Cary--Caught a runner stealing at third base... also had no passed balls behind the plate

PITCHING:

*Angela DiFonzo-- 2 strike outs, only one walk

*Kate Lipman--3 strike outs, only one walk, no runs allowed
