The Rockville wrestling team participated in the two day Battle at the Boro Tournament at Boonsboro High School on December 8th and 9th. Over two days of competition, the Rams saw multiple wrestlers place in the top half of their weight classes.
At 106 lbs, Marcus Johnson came back to avenge his loss to a Crofton wrestler on the first night with a 6 - 4 victory on Saturday before earning a 7th place finish with a pin against Bowie at 0:45. He secured 6.5 team points for the Rams.
At 113 lbs, Finn Dunston recorded two pins on Friday night and added another pin and a 10 - 6 decision over Brunswick to finish in 2nd place and an overall 28.5 team points.
At 120 lbs, Damian Melendez recorded three pins on Friday and three more on Saturday en route to a 3rd place finish and 29.0 team points.
At 138 lbs, Lucas Laender ran a perfect Friday night with 3 pins in 3 matches at times of 0:25, 0:58, and 1:16. On Saturday, he added a 17 - 3 major decision, another pin in 1:27 over Clarksburg, and finished the tournament in 4th place while contributing 25.0 team points.
At 144 lbs, Elijah Fassil recorded a pin over Glenelg Country on Friday to earn 3.0 team points.
At 150 lbs, Daniel Miranda was the only wrestler to go four full matches on Friday night and earned 4.0 team points with his 3 - 1 decision over Bowie and 7 - 2 decision over Tuscarora.
At 157 lbs, Jackson Webb earned a 21 - 4 tech fall over Century, contributing 2.5 team points.
At 165 lbs, Thomas Dorsey secured two pins on Saturday for an 8th place finish and 9.0 team points.
At 285 lbs, Juanpablo Zamora won a 4 - 2 decision over Boonsboro on Friday night, good for 2.5 team points.
